Supported Housing.

The Supported Housing scheme offers vulnerable adults with learning disabilities the opportunity to improve their quality of life through greater independence. It promotes housing-related and independent living skills services which are cost effective and reliable and which compliment any existing care services. Supported Housing is a working partnership between the service user and Helping Hands.

The purpose of our support is to develop and sustain an individual's capacity to live independently in their accommodation. A range of services and activities are tailored to an individual's specific needs through support planning with the individual and can include, but are not limited to, accessing their correct benefit entitlement, ensuring they have the correct skills to maintain a tenancy, assisting in accessing the community as well as their cultural and religious beliefs and also teaching them basic day to day living skills such as cooking and cleaning.

Helping Hands is currently a silver member with BILD (British Institute of Learning Disabilities) and is now a registered ASDAN short course network centre which allows us to provide educational courses and qualifications to our services users. Helping Hands aims to facilitate service user's involvement and independence in the community at all levels and will continually investigate innovative methods to encourage the widest possible involvement.
